Meet the Team

Jeremy Ward has spent his career in music performance, education, assessment and qualifications. A pianist from the age of five, he went on to perform internationally and spent more than a decade as a professional music examiner before becoming Head of Academic Affairs and later Executive Director at RSL Music Awards.

During more than ten years in senior roles at RSL, Jeremy helped shape the organisation’s academic and international development, established its international operations, contributed to its expansion into more than 20 countries, developed two major music syllabuses, and introduced fully accredited performing and teaching diplomas.

More recently Jeremy has headed the recent reworking of GCSE and A level qualifications for both AQA and Pearson exam boards, attracting considerable media attention.

That first-hand experience of students, teachers, examinations and qualifications provides the educational foundation for Practice Music Theory.

Christopher Ward brings more than 35 years of professional software development experience, specialising in web technologies, web applications and user interface design. Much of his career has been spent building systems for investment banks, hedge funds and other financial institutions.

A keen musician and songwriter himself, Christopher leads the design and development of the Practice Music Theory platform, creating the interactive exercises, assessment and marking systems, music notation tools, gamified learning activities and authoring technology that turn Jeremy’s educational expertise into a modern digital learning experience.
